Since his start in financial services in 1984, Scott has endeavored to make a difference in the world by making a difference to clients. Prior to leading The Iles Schropp Group, Scott served as president and CEO of Merrill Lynch Trust Bank of Michigan. He joined Merrill Lynch in 2000. Scott holds the Certified Investment Management Analyst® (CIMA®) designation. He draws on his knowledge to help successful individuals and families create and sustain intergenerational wealth.

He enjoys learning about clients so he can truly understand what they want to accomplish in life. He gains great satisfaction in helping clients move forward toward their personal wealth management goals. In 2016 Scott was named by Barron’s magazine as one of America’s Top 1,200 Financial Advisors.

He holds the Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy® (CAP®) designation and also the Certified Trust and Financial Advisor (CTFA) designation, which is sponsored by the ABA Institute of Certified Bankers. Scott is a member of the following organizations: Council of Michigan Foundations, National Planned Giving Council, Independent Sector, Northeast Michigan Estate Planning Council, Association of Fundraising Professionals and Council on Foundations.

In addition, he is on the board of the Michigan Nonprofit Association. Scott also volunteers as an advisor for the Bay Area Community Foundation, the Saginaw Community Foundation and the Karmanos Cancer Institute Foundation in Detroit. Scott earned a bachelor’s degree from Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan. He lives in Saginaw, Michigan, with his wife, Lynne. They have two grown children, Wesley and Ashley.
