The Atwood Group

We provide tailored wealth and investment strategies to a select group of accomplished individuals and families throughout the United States. The founder of our team, Jim Atwood, has garnered a number of national accolades as a financial advisor. These distinctions attest to our larger objective as a team: to foster an outstanding experience for the clients we serve, helping them preserve, amplify, and sustain their success across multiple generations.

As members of the Private Banking and Investment Group at Merrill Lynch, we offer intensive outreach to a limited number of clients, harnessing the resources and opportunities that align with each client’s particular priorities. We ground our outreach in experience. Our Advisors bring decades of practical insight and first-hand knowledge. Clients look to us for informed tactics and seasoned advice, recognizing that we have encountered many of the same issues before.     We serve a diverse clientele. Some have built and sold businesses or are current entrepreneurs. Others are senior executives, both active and retired. Still others are family offices or multi-generational families.

    Whatever a client’s path to wealth, we devote significant resources to analyzing each client’s cash-flow needs. We view cash flow as a critical component of total portfolio return and a key differentiator of our approach. As portfolio managers, we look to create customized asset allocations that are designed to help clients meet their lifestyle requirements while preserving their long-term capital. For clients who have sold businesses, this emphasis is particularly important. For current business owners and active wealth builders, we seek to deploy wealth thoughtfully and strategically, identifying possible efficiencies on both sides of the balance sheet. We offer a disciplined investment methodology that is both fee-sensitive and tax-sensitive, using both active and passive investments to drive returns.
