Our Group

The Dyer Group is a wealth management team in the Private Banking & Investment Group at Merrill Lynch. With offices in New York City and Greenwich, Connecticut our team of professionals serves the diverse and complex financial needs of ultra high net worth individuals, executives, families and trusts. With nearly 30 relationships who have entrusted us with over $1.37 Billion in assets and liabilities as of April 2017 we act as financial advisor, investment manager and trusted advocate. Our key strength is a highly customized approach to the demands of significant wealth. Clients value our organizational and analytical skills, our rigorous wealth management and investment advice and our full service approach that supports their financial lives. It is our distinct privilege to serve an elite group of people who are accustomed to doing things very well.

Leveraging the combined capabilities of Merrill Lynch and Bank of America we provide advice for our client’s most significant financial challenges. Clients include public and private company executives or owners, partners or executives in the financial services industry and established families. The clients we serve lead complex and dynamic lives but recognize they may not have the time or specialization that their finances may require. We welcome that complexity as an opportunity to organize and simplify their financial lives. Our client roster is limited so that we can provide more detailed attention. This full service approach coupled with the expertise of our Firm adds long standing value to a client’s financial life, wealth and legacy.

Our Process

Realizing that every client’s aspirations are unique we use a highly tailored approach to private wealth management that has been honed over 16 years of experience in several key areas:

Planning and Organization

Our first task is often to examine a client’s assets and liabilities to determine their structure, location, value and proper title. We routinely review and centralize key client financial documents such as wills, estate plans, tax returns and executive compensation summaries and create a balance sheet and financial statement for each client. These tools provide a framework that provides clarity for clients as they evaluate and plan important tax, trust, estate and risk management decisions.

Tax, Trust, and Estate Planning Services

We work with clients to devise and implement wealth transfer strategies that make sense for them, their businesses and their families. With access to the combined resources and expertise of the Private Bank and US Trust Company we work with clients to help them understand their options and articulate objectives and long term goals.

Capital Markets and Risk Management

We apply our Firm’s strength and experience in the capital markets to help clients effectively manage concentrated equity and restricted stock, stock options and executive compensation. Risk is not a blanket term, but a reflection of individual circumstances across multiple considerations: estate tax risk, liquidity risk, diversification risk, concentration risk and balance sheet risk among others. Our clients want to identify, understand and mitigate the risks inherent in their financial lives by engaging in thoughtful strategy and decisive action.

Institutional Cash and Investment Management

We manage client cash and investments. Thoughtful long term investment strategies are prepared within an asset allocation framework populated by investments that have qualified themselves after intense due diligence by Merrill Lynch and our own manager selection process. Sophisticated portfolio analytics and tools to design and monitor customized strategies that pursue long term growth and preservation. We invest in third party managers using both active and passive investment vehicles.

Credit and Lending

We are a full service lender for a variety of client needs including commercial and residential real estate, business assets, aircraft, yachts and art as well as securities lending. Creative loan structures designed to optimize the use of collateral on client balance sheets can lower the cost of financing in a competitive market.

Private Banking

We increase the convenience and clarity of day to day transactions from spending to transfers using banking products and tools specifically designed for ultra affluent clients. A secure online portal provides a unified perspective on clients’ finances so that they stay informed and up to date.

Service

Our goal is to provide clients with exceptional service. For our team service and success is defined by the client. We look to drive value by being helpful, precise and accessible whenever clients need us. Service can mean the quick resolution of a problem or the advancement of a multi-stage initiative.
