The Magrone Group

We are a leading private banking advisory team headquartered in New York City.* We are privileged to work with a select group of ultra-affluent clients, helping them navigate the challenges and opportunities of significant wealth. We serve approximately 40 families who have entrusted us with approximately $1.659 billion in assets as of November 2017.

We advise wealth creators in three spheres of influence: (1) Finance (private equity and hedge fund principals); (2) Real Estate (investor, developers and managers); (3) Entrepreneurs and their respective extended families. Each client we advise is unique, with distinctive needs and priorities. We insist on customizing our approach for each client, marshaling the resources of the Private Banking and Investment Group at Merrill Lynch to devise and implement tailored wealth strategies.

Our ethos is straightforward: We look to serve a small number of clients exceptionally well by coordinating, consolidating, and simplifying their financial lives, enabling clients to pursue what is most significant to each of them.

Skilled in Distilling Complex Circumstances

Substantial wealth often entails complexity. As a team, we streamline multiple dimensions of a client’s financial life. We speak in plain language about four key issues: (1) Lifetime; (2) Heirs; (3) Charity; and (4) Taxes. By focusing on each of these issues, we discern what is most important to each client, designing strategies to optimize long-term goals. We don’t believe in clouding discussions with endless acronyms or intricate-sounding processes. Once we know what a client wants and needs, we apply rigorous analytics and robust quantitative skills and common sense to pursue desired outcomes. Since we exclusively work with ultra-affluent families, we leverage the insight, knowledge and experience gained over the past twenty years from such a unique client base.

The clients we advise have worked hard to create significant wealth and many are deeply skilled and exposed to the financial markets. Our team is sensitive to pre-existing exposures associated with our clients’ wealth and we recognize preservation of life-style, independent of these risks, is paramount. Beyond securing life-style objectives, we work with families to address the different dimensions of wealth along with sustaining their values across generations. Throughout the process, we believe asset location is critical to maximizing long-term planning goals while utilizing the proper asset allocation to achieve desired risk-adjusted investment returns consistent with each customized family plan.
