The Larson Kirkpatrick Group

The Larson-Kirkpatrick Group is a wealth management team that serves affluent families, individuals, and institutions, bringing a devoted service ethic and client-centered focus to our work. As the only Private Banking and Investment Group team in the Pacific Northwest, we focus on a special group of clients: private business owners, corporate executives, entrepreneurs, endowments, foundations, and wealthy families.

We take pleasure in doing our work well. We keep an unwavering focus on the clients we serve: how to advance their goals, streamline their finances, coordinate with their external advisors, and maintain their vision and values across multiple generations.

Structured to Perform

We have built our team to respond to the needs of high-net-worth clients. We purposely limit our practice to the clients who can most benefit from our offerings and skill set. We do not look to be all things to all people – rather, to serve a niche client base exceptionally well. We are a team of five professionals, each of whom is essential to the smooth functioning of our team. Clients come to know each of us very well, and we, in turn, know them very well. We invite clients to contact us at any time, priding ourselves on our availability, work ethic, and responsiveness. Our reputation is our greatest asset and a key differentiator of our approach.

Mindful of the Long Term Implications of Wealth

We recognize that clients have long-term aspirations for their wealth. In serving client needs, we not only respond to the day-to-day issues at hand, but take a more deliberate and thoughtful approach to building and sustaining long-term wealth. We ask clients to take a holistic view of their wealth, identifying their goals in building a family legacy, imparting values to future generations, enhancing financial education, promoting philanthropy, and involving their heirs in essential wealth management decisions. We believe strongly that wealth management is a family pursuit – one that is best accomplished in a context of involvement, anticipation, and thoughtful strategy.

Offering Family Office Services

The clients we serve have complex needs. They typically have external tax and legal advisors who play important roles in long-term estate planning strategy and wealth transfer. We are skilled facilitators and collaborators; we welcome the opportunity to work with external advisors, creating an atmosphere of collective progress and shared insight. We recognize the importance of clearly delineated goals and strategy in advancing long-term success. We are particularly adept in integrating clients’ particular circumstances and concerns into a wealth management framework that responds to their individual needs.

    Bob Larson

    Private Wealth Advisor

    Bob has worked at Merrill Lynch since 1998. As a Private Wealth Advisor, he focuses on working with ultra-high-net-worth clients and their advisors on estate and wealth management services and strategies. He also serves as an investment consultant to large retirement plans, foundations and endowments in areas such as investment policy, asset allocation studies, manager searches and performance monitoring. Bob attended Stanford University and was a corporate executive at IBM before joining Merrill Lynch.

    Bob is the board chairman for the Inland Northwest Community Foundation and is an elder at his church. He and his wife, Mary Helen, live in Spokane, Washington, with their two children. In his free time, Bob enjoys golfing and traveling with his family.

    Jay Kirkpatrick, CFP® CIMA®, CRPC®

    Wealth Management Advisor

    Jay joined Merrill Lynch in 1996. As a Wealth Management Advisor, Jay focuses on investment management strategies, business succession, retirement strategies, and wealth transfer strategies. Jay also has experience in corporate retirement plan management and institutional investment strategies for corporations, foundations and endowments. A graduate of Eastern Washington University, Jay is a CFP® certificant, a designation awarded by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc..

    Jay is the past president of the Spokane South Little League organization and coaches youth sports. He previously served on the Downtown YMCA Advisory Board and as President of Rebuilding Together® Spokane from 2004-2006. Jay, his wife, Chelsey, and their two sons live in Spokane, where they enjoy golfing, camping and most other outdoor activities.

    Investment Associate

    Jennifer joined Merrill Lynch in 2000 working in the Eugene, Oregon, office until June 2005. Jennifer returned to Merrill Lynch in July 2010. During her time away, she earned her M.B.A. from Kansas Wesleyan University. She received her undergraduate degree in Political Science from the University of Montana. Jennifer is an Investment Associate with the primary responsibility for managing the team’s client service activities.

    Jennifer and her husband Chad have two young children. After spending several years in the South and Midwest, they are especially appreciative of the opportunity to be closer to family and experience the beauty of the Northwest with their children.

    Desiree Madsen

    Sr Private Wealth Assoc

    Desireé has worked at Merrill Lynch since 1991. She is a Registered Senior Wealth Associate with primary responsibility for client performance reporting, as well as development and preparation of technical and educational presentations.

    Desireé and her husband Monte live in Spokane, where they enjoy spending time with their children and grandchildren. They also take advantage of the area’s great outdoors by cycling, backpacking and snowshoeing.
