F.M. Buck Wiley III
Buck has worked at Merrill Lynch since 2001. In 2004, he established the Wiley Team within the Private Banking and Investment Group to focus on the investment needs of affluent families, endowments, and institutions. Buck directs all of the team’s client offerings, including investment strategy, portfolio management, asset allocation, and income management. In 2009, 2010, and 2011, Barron’s magazine recognized Buck as one of the Top 25 Financial Advisors in Georgia, and one of the Top 1,000 Financial Advisors nationally.1
Buck began his corporate career in Europe as an international tax lawyer with KPMG. Subsequently, he worked at SUN Capital Partners, a London-based private equity firm. While at SUN, he led a team that specialized in the analysis and execution of corporate acquisitions across Eastern Europe. During his tenure in private equity, Buck served on the Board of Directors of a number of international entities: Coca-Cola bottling plants in Volgograd and Vladivostok Russia, a Moscow-based internet service provider, and an emerging markets hedge fund located two blocks from the Kremlin. Buck’s extensive global private equity experience has provided him with insight into global markets, particularly emerging economies, and the financial implications of mergers, acquisitions and corporate finance.
Buck is a Certified Investment Manager AnalystSM professional (CIMA®). He is also a Portfolio Manager in Merrill Lynch’s Personal Investment AdvisorySM Program. This Program is for specially qualified financial advisors who use client-approved discretion to manage client portfolios. In acting as Portfolio Manager, Buck draws upon the breadth and depth of the Merrill Lynch wealth management process, and the market intelligence provided by BofA Merrill Lynch Global Research.
Buck received a J.D. and an M.B.A. from the University of Georgia.2 He also holds an L.L.M. in International Law from the University of Brussels in Belgium. Buck received a B.A. in European History, Cum Laude, from Washington & Lee University.
Buck is a member of the alumni board of the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business. He has served on the advisory leadership of the Woodruff Arts Center, the Atlanta History Center, the PATH Works Foundation and the Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum.
Buck and his wife, Ellen, live in Atlanta with their three young sons.
